Grace

This blog is about our family.
I've been writing about us since 2006.
I love to write about all the fun things we do, and most of the posts are happy ones.
This one is heartbreaking, but it's our family,
Grace is our family, she's our granddaughter,
she's a daughter, sister, great-granddaughter, cousin, niece.
When we were in California in February and March,
Lindsey was 20 weeks pregnant.
Oh my, we were so excited.
I've always had a 'guarded excitement' when Lindsey has been pregnant.
None of her pregnancies have been easy, but you would never know it by talking to her.

We had been home from Texas about a week when Lindsey found out that the baby
had major problems with the heart.  These were problems that wouldn't allow the baby to live and for Lindsey's health too, the pregnancy was very dangerous.

As Lindsey and Donnie prayed for a miracle, it wasn't to be.  On March 26th, she went into the hospital and was induced to deliver.  I think she was at 22 weeks.

March 27th, precious little Grace Lucia was born.
Lindsey and Donnie were blessed to have about 30 precious minutes with her. Before she went to be with Jesus, they held her, talked and prayed over her.  As Donnie said, "Grace's heart was broken, and that broke our hearts".
It broke my heart...I know it broke all our hearts.

Lindsey and Donnie wanted little Grace's life to be honored, it was and it will continue to be.
You are so loved, little one, even though I never held you, rocked you, you have a piece of my heart.
Grace Lucia, you were only here for such a brief time, but your presence
changed us forever.
