Celebrating 93 years!

Happy 93rd birthday to Mom!
This was actually on April 11...the day before her big day.  April 12th was supposed to be full of thunderstorms (it did), so we decided to celebrate a day early.  We had been meeting on Sunday's at a church parking lot.  We decided this day to meet in John David's backyard and wear masks...social distance...the whole thing.

No, we didn't wear our masks when we ate, but we put them on just for the picture...to have a sign of the times.
For dessert, I asked Mom what she wanted...."coconut cake"...so that's what's in that cake holder!
I hope I look this good if I make it to 93!
Becky...not so good at wearing a mask!
John David...
Joshua
He came again to take part in the celebration of his Saddie!
Happy birthday again, Mom!
You are loved...

Hiking at Alderfer/3 Sisters on April 10, 2020

Alderfer/3 Sisters is another favorite place to hike.
There are lots of trails...2 different trailheads.  The trails are also on both sides of the road.
Baxter is such a great hiker!

Thank goodness there are no earthquakes here.  This rock formation probably wouldn't hold up!

There's definitely some gorgeous views!  See the snow capped mountains in the background?

Breweries are closed because of Covid-19...so we took a couple of brews to have
sitting in the parking lot at the trailhead...in the back of the pick-up!
Cheers!

South Platte River walk on April 6, 2020

We love to walk along the South Platte River.
It's pretty, it's peaceful, and it's fairly close!
If Baxter gets too hot, no problem, he's got some water to cool off with.
Looks like these trees didn't have any leaves yet.
I still think it's pretty...and I need to practice painting water with reflections!
It was a nice walk...probably about 5.5 miles!

We had someone join us in the parking lot on April 5, 2020

Like I said in an earlier post, we started meeting in a church parking lot
on March 29th.  This way, we could 'social distance' and see each other.
On this Sunday, April 5, Joshua came and surprised everyone (except me)!

I just love that one of my kids lives close...
Doesn't he look great?

Hiking Dawson Butte on April 1, 2020

Ron and I took Baxter and drove to a trail called Dawson Butte.
It's only about a 5 mile loop, but it's pretty...
It's located in Douglas County.  My friend, Yvonne, volunteers with the Douglas County Trail system.  She told me their trails have to be accessible to hikers, bikers, and horses~

Of course, the trails are accessible to Baxter!

The 'Stairway to Heaven' path is for horses.  There are jumps...I guess that's what you call it, for horses to jump over!  Not a recommended trail for hikers!  We just stayed on the Dawson Butte Trail.

Hiking with Ron is a bit different than with my hiking group.  He brings a full lunch...sandwich, chips, apple, cookies...and takes his time eating it.  I get antsy...Baxter wants part of it.
Dawson's Butte...I guess I forgot to take a picture of the actual butte.
You can't hike up on it because that part of the park is private property.
It's still a nice, easy 5 mile loop!

Social Distancing with the family on March 29, 2020

Because of Covid-19, because Mom is 93, because John David works with the public,
because Ron had no insurance, social distancing was definitely something we were respecting!
I thought about this church, close to John David's,  that has a huge parking lot.
We met there, all driving separately, and spaced out chairs out, and were able to visit and see each other.

Baxter was happy...
Mom was happy...
we all were, and it was an enjoyable, and crisp, afternoon!

It's been a long time!
